At least 20 people were injured in a fierce clash between two groups over a game of ludo in Muradpur village under Baniachang upazila of Habiganj on Saturday afternoon.

Several of the seriously injured were rescued and admitted to the upazila health complex and the district sadar modern hospital, according to locals.

The clash took place near the Muradpur school house area. Local sources said a dispute over a ludo game had erupted about a month ago between followers of Kabir Mia and Nur Mia in the same area, which had then led to a clash.

Following that earlier incident, both groups again confronted each other with bamboo sticks on Saturday afternoon. The ensuing clash lasted for about an hour, leaving at least 20 people injured on both sides.

On information, local elders and youths rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

Baniachang Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sheikh Nazmul Haque said the situation is currently calm. “Legal action will be taken if a formal complaint is received,” he added.
