Litton Das has been appointed as Bangladesh’s new ODI captain, replacing Mehidy Hasan Miraz as the Bangladesh Cricket Board reshapes its leadership ahead of the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
The BCB has also moved away from its policy of having three different captains across the three international formats. Litton will now lead the ODI side, while Towhid Hridoy has been named the vice captain in the format.
There is no change in the Test leadership. Najmul Hossain Shanto will continue as Test captain, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz remaining his deputy.
Miraz’s ODI captaincy ends after 24 matches in charge. Bangladesh won 10 matches, lost 13, and tied one during his time as captain.
The board has also decided to review the performances of captains across all formats every six months as part of its new leadership policy. This regular evaluation will help determine future leadership decisions based on performance.
