Litton Das hailed Bangladesh’s fielding and collective resilience after the hosts completed a dominant series win over Ireland in Chattogram. The captain said the turnaround in the team’s athletic standards was one of the most satisfying aspects of the year.
“We caught brilliantly in this series,” Litton said after the match. “At least in terms of fielding, we can say that there has been a lot of development.”
Fielding has often held Bangladesh back in global tournaments, but the captain said the group has worked to remove that weakness. “This is the biggest progress we have shown,” he said. “We were able to catch brilliantly. That is a big improvement.”
Litton also praised the mentality of the squad during the series and the year as a whole.
“We have tried to build this team for a year. Everyone is mature. Everyone is capable,” he said. “We tried to play our best XI every day.”
The challenge of managing depth does not bother him, and he said the competition for places will improve standards. “Sometimes a player does not play, but he is still a match-winner,” he said. “We have many match winners.”
He again singled out the BPL as the next major checkpoint for player development. “The BPL is ahead. Many things will depend on it,” he said.
However, Litton repeated that injuries are his only real concern going forward. “I do not want any player injured. That is the only thing that worries me,” he said.
Litton finished by saying he sees more room for progress but believes the foundations for success have finally been set. “I can name 11 players confidently now,” he said. “Everyone knows what is needed for the team.”
