Little Star Club were crowned champions of the Cute First Division Men’s Handball League 2025 after defeating Jaditong Jubo Sangha 34-25 in an action-packed final held at the Bandarban District Stadium on Monday, 10 November.
The tournament, organised by the Bandarban District Sports Association under the supervision of the Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) and sponsored by Mousumi Industries Limited (Cute), brought together eight teams from across the region in a spirited display of local talent.
The final match lived up to expectations, with Little Star Club taking early control through sharp attacking play and disciplined defence. Despite a determined challenge from Jaditong Jubo Sangha, Little Star maintained their lead throughout, sealing a comfortable nine-goal victory to lift the coveted title.
Earlier, the competition officially began on 6 November with a vibrant opening ceremony led by Deputy Commissioner Shamim Ara Nime, who also serves as President of the Bandarban District Sports Association. A colourful rally marked the start of the league, reflecting the district’s growing enthusiasm for handball.
Eight teams competed in two groups: Little Star Club, Team One, Young Star Jubo Sangha, and Kalaghata GTL Sporting Club in Group A; and Jaditong Jubo Sangha, Bandarban Soccer Sporting Club, Mro Residential High School, and Uzanipara Boys Club in Group B.
Throughout the week-long tournament, players showcased impressive skill, energy, and teamwork, qualities that the Bangladesh Handball Federation believes will help identify future national-level athletes.
BHF officials praised the event’s organisation and highlighted the importance of regional competitions in expanding the sport’s reach beyond major cities. According to Saeed Ahmed, Joint Member-Secretary of the BHF Technical Committee and coordinator of the district-based Cute Handball League, the tournament reflected “the true potential of grassroots handball in Bangladesh.”
