A three-day training programme titled Gender and Climate Change, organised by Local Government Engineering Department Climate Resilient Local Infrastructure Centre, concluded on Tuesday at the training room of LGED headquarters.
The training programme was held from 28 to 30 December, 2025.
Local Government Engineering Department Additional Chief Engineer and Climate Resilient Local Infrastructure Centre Director Sayeda Asma Khatun attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest, delivered the concluding remarks and distributed certificates among the participants.
Local Government Engineering Department Additional Chief Engineer Current Charge Training Unit Syed Shafiqul Islam and Climate Resilient Local Infrastructure Centre Executive Engineer Md Latif Hossain were also present at the event.
Addressing the trainees, Sayeda Asma Khatun expressed gratitude to all concerned for the successful completion of the programme.
She said the training demonstrated the importance of gender sensitivity in addressing the impacts of climate change, noting that women, children and marginalised communities bear a disproportionate share of climate-related risks, making it essential to integrate gender perspectives into planning, implementation and policy-making.
In his welcome speech, Syed Shafiqul Islam said Local Government Engineering Department has remained committed to gender equality and inclusive development in local infrastructure and climate-resilient initiatives.
He said the initiative taken by Climate Resilient Local Infrastructure Centre to enhance knowledge and skills reflects that institutional commitment.
The training sessions were conducted by Local Government Engineering Department Additional Chief Engineers, Project Directors, Executive Engineers and specialised consultants.
A total of 30 Senior Assistant Engineers and Assistant Engineers from Local Government Engineering Department participated in the programme.
Training Specialist Md Abul Kashem and Media and Communication Specialist Syed Mahbub Ahsan also attended the event.
