Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) will operate additional metro rail services on Wednesday to facilitate public attendance at the janaza (funeral prayer) of former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
The decision was announced in a notice signed by DMTCL Director (Administration) AKM Khairul Alam on Tuesday.
The notice stated that special metro trains will run outside the regular schedule to accommodate the large number of attendees, although the timings and frequency of the extra services have not been specified.
Khaleda Zia’s funeral prayer will be held at 2pm at the South Plaza of the National Parliament.
She will then be buried with full state honours at 3:30pm beside the grave of former President Ziaur Rahman at Zia Udyan, on the north side of the Parliament.
