The government has cancelled the one-year contractual appointment of Md Abdur Rashid Mia as Chief Engineer of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED).
The information was disclosed in a notification issued on Saturday.
The notification said the appointment order issued through a previous notification has been revoked.
It added that the order, issued in the public interest, will take immediate effect.
The notification, signed by Deputy Secretary Md Golam Rabbani by order of the President, directed the relevant authorities to take necessary steps.
It is learnt that the appointment order was cancelled following various allegations raised against Abdur Rashid Mia after his appointment.
