Inter Miami missed another chance to win at their new Nu Stadium on Saturday. They were held to a 2-2 draw by New York Red Bulls after giving up a lead.
It was the second straight draw at the new venue. Last week, Miami and Austin FC also finished 2-2.
New York took the lead early. In the 15th minute, young striker Julian Hall made a strong run down the right. He beat two defenders and set up Jorge Ruvalcalba, who scored with a low shot past Dayne St. Clair.
Miami hit back just before the break. Mateo Silvetti scored from close range after a cross from Rodrigo De Paul.
After half-time, Miami pushed forward. Maxi Falcon had a clear chance but headed wide from a corner. Lionel Messi and Silvetti also missed good chances.
Miami went ahead in the 55th minute. German Berterame scored with a low shot after a deflected pass fell to him.
New York thought they had equalised later, but a goal from Robert Voloder was ruled out for offside after a VAR check.
The equaliser came in the 77th minute. Hall made another strong run into the box and passed to Adri Mehmeti, who scored to make it 2-2.
Miami pressed hard in the final minutes. Messi came close to a winner, but Ethan Horvath made a fine save from his free kick in stoppage time.
The draw leaves Inter Miami third in the Eastern Conference. They are four points behind leaders Nashville, who beat Charlotte 2-1.
