Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany said his side will focus on scoring more goals than Paris Saint-Germain as they prepare for the Champions League semi-final second leg at home. Bayern trail 5-4 from the first leg.
Kompany said, “The mission is to win the match. We have our own plans which will help us. The ideal situation is to win without conceding, but at the end of the day, scoring one more than the opponent is what counts.”
He added, “At the start of the season many people might not have believed we would be this close to the final. Now we are here and the fans believe we can do it.”
Bayern will stick to an attacking approach. They need at least one goal to level the tie and more to progress. Kompany confirmed the squad remains close to full strength, with Serge Gnabry the only major absentee through injury.
Kompany said, “If the game goes to penalties, we are ready for that as well.”
He also addressed his own mindset before the match. He said he expects no issues with sleep and feels no extra pressure before the decisive game.
Bayern will host the second leg with a place in the final at stake. The winner will advance to face the other finalist in Budapest on May 30.
