Khaleda Zia’s personal physician and BNP Standing Committee member AZM Zahid Hossain said on Saturday that the plan to take the BNP chairperson abroad has been delayed due to her current physical condition.
He briefed journalists at Evercare Hospital in the afternoon, where she has been receiving treatment.
He said the medical board is prioritising her condition above all else and an air ambulance is ready. He said a decision on taking her abroad will be made based on her health.
Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital on 23 November after experiencing breathing difficulties. Tests detected a lung infection.
The nearly 80-year-old former prime minister has long been suffering from heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, liver cirrhosis and kidney complications.
Her condition deteriorated early on 30 November and she was moved to the CCU. Doctors continue to describe her condition as critical.
