BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has attended a reception ceremony marking the Armed Forces Day in Dhaka Cantonment.
She arrived at the Senakunja around 4:30pm, where she was received by Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman and Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan.
Prior to this, Khaleda Zia departed for the Senakunja from her Gulshan residence, “Firoza,” at 3:50pm. This was confirmed by a member of the party’s Standing Committee and her personal physician, AZM Zahid Hossain.
Accompanying the BNP Chairperson were her daughter-in-law, Syeda Shamila Rahman Sithi, the wife of her late son Arafat Rahman Coco; the party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP chief’s medical board member Dr Shahabuddin Talukder; and Nasrin Sayeed Iskander – widow of her late brother Sayeed Iskander.
Shairul Kabir Khan, a member of the BNP’s media cell, stated that other members of the party’s Standing Committee, including Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Abdul Moyeen Khan, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salahuddin Ahmed, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, and Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, are also attending the event.
The Armed Forces Day is being observed Friday, with due dignity and enthusiasm. The day’s programmes commenced with special prayers after Fajr prayers in mosques across all army cantonments, naval installations, and air force bases.
