BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, who is receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka, has been shifted to the CCU.
She was moved from the cabin to the CCU on Thursday after her health condition deteriorated.
Shayrul Kabir Khan, a member of BNP’s media wing, confirmed the development to TIMES of Bangladesh.
Quoting BNP standing committee member and Khaleda Zia’s personal physician Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, he Shayrul said, “Under the supervision of local and foreign specialist doctors on the medical board, Khaleda Zia is being treated in the CCU under close observation.”
Earlier, on Sunday, Khaleda was admitted to the hospital.
The nearly 80‑year‑old former prime minister has long been suffering from various health complications, including heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, liver cirrhosis, and kidney problems.
Following the fall of the Awami League government, the BNP chairperson went to London on January 7 for advanced treatment. She was initially treated at London Clinic and later continued treatment while staying at the residence of her son, Tarique Rahman.
After spending 117 days in London, she returned to the country on May 6. Since then, she has frequently had to be taken to the hospital due to recurring health issues.
