Justice Naima Haider of the High Court Division has resigned from her position. The confirmation was provided on Monday by Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, the Supreme Court’s Public Relations Officer.
In a notice issued by the Supreme Court Administration, it was stated that Justice Naima Haider expressed her intention to resign through a letter dated 5 February. Her resignation letter, bearing her signature, has been submitted to the President via the Chief Justice.
Additionally, another High Court judge, Justice Mamunur Rahman, also expressed his intention to resign via email in February, submitting a signed letter through the Chief Justice to the President.
Both resignation letters have been sent to the President from the Supreme Court.
Justice Naima Haider, daughter of former Chief Justice Badarul Haider Chowdhury, studied law at the Dhaka University. She later earned her LLM and PhD from Columbia University. She also studied at the University of Oxford, University of California, Berkeley, and the University of London.
Justice Haider began her legal career in 1989 as a lawyer at the Judge Court. In 1993, she was appointed as a lawyer at the High Court Division, and in 2004, she was appointed as a lawyer at the Appellate Division.
In 2009, she was appointed as an additional judge at the High Court Division, and in 2011, she assumed the role of a permanent judge.
Meanwhile, Justice Mamunur Rahman was appointed as an additional judge at the High Court Division on 23 August 2004, and two years later, he became a permanent judge of the High Court.
