The National Consensus Commission (NCC) has held another detailed discussion with experts regarding the finalisation of the “July National Charter 2025” and the methods and processes for its implementation.
In a press release, it was revealed that the discussion took place during a meeting lasting over three hours on Sunday afternoon at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital. Participating as experts were retired Justice MA Matin of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, Dean of the Faculty of Law at Dhaka University Mohammad Ikramul Haque, Senior Advocate of the Bangladesh Supreme Court Dr Sharif Bhuiyan, and Barrister Imran Siddique.
At the meeting, the experts reviewed the finalised draft of the charter and provided opinions on the constitutional, legal, and political aspects of potential implementation methods.
Representing the Commission were Vice-Chairperson Professor Ali Riaz, members Dr Badiul Alam Majumdar, Justice Md. Emdadul Haque, Dr Iftekharuzzaman, Safar Raj Hossain, and Dr Md Ayub Mia. Additionally, the Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant Monir Haider also participated in the meeting.
The press release goes on to add that the Consensus Commission has already held several informal meetings with political parties to finalise the charter. As part of this ongoing process, opinions were collected from political parties and alliances regarding the methods for implementing the charter.
The opinions received from the political parties were also reviewed in today’s meeting, the release added.
