Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Shahadat Hossain Dipu powered Chattogram Division to a convincing victory over Dhaka Metropolis, chasing down a target of 186 with 19 balls to spare and losing just two wickets.

The pair shared a rapid 74-run partnership off 38 balls, setting the tone for the successful chase.

Under captain Yasir Ali, Chattogram recorded their first win of the tournament, having had their opening match abandoned due to rain. With three points, they moved up to second place on the table, behind run-rate leaders Dhaka Division, while Dhaka Metro remained fifth with two points.

Dhaka Metro had posted 185 for six in Sylhet. After a solid 81-run opening stand, the team lost five wickets for 48 runs. Naim top-scored with 46, while fellow opener Mahfizul contributed 41. Mahmudullah added 41 off 22 balls, supported by Abu Haider Roni’s 24 off 12, but their total proved insufficient.

Chattogram’s chase was anchored by the openers, who put on 53 runs. Mominul fell after scoring 71 off 28 balls, but Joy maintained the momentum, reaching a half-century in 28 balls and finishing on 71 off 37, including four fours and six sixes, before falling to Anisul Islam Imon.

Dipu remained unbeaten on 64 from 36 balls, guiding the team home alongside captain Yasir, who finished not out on 12 off 10 balls. Mahmudul Hasan took the only other wicket for Dhaka Metro.
