A drive to remove illegal structures and clean up areas along major highways has begun in Jhenaidah as part of an effort to ease public suffering and build a cleaner district.
The campaign was inaugurated on Tuesday morning at the Chuadanga Bus Stand area by Local Government Division Deputy Director Rathindra Nath Roy.
Led by the district administration and the Roads and Highways Department, with support from local scouts, the operation covered Chuadanga Bus Stand, Arappur Jamtala, Arappur Mor, Pagla Kanai Road, Chuadanga Road and several other key points across the town.
During the campaign, authorities removed piles of timber, sand mounds, and other makeshift structures that had long occupied the roadside.
Rathindra Nath Roy said the drive will continue to reduce public inconvenience and maintain a clean environment. He urged residents to refrain from placing illegal structures or materials along highways.
“The city belongs to all of us, and keeping it clean is our shared responsibility,” he said.
