The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has reduced jet fuel prices by Tk39.57 per litre, with the new rates taking effect from midnight on Saturday.
For domestic flights, the price has been lowered from Tk205.45 per litre to Tk165.88 per litre, according to a BERC notification.
International flights will also benefit, with the per-litre price dropping from $1.3385 to $1.0823 dollars.
This marks the second price reduction for jet fuel in May. On 7 May, the price was cut by Tk22.35 per litre. Prior to that, on 7 April, the price was increased by approximately Tk25 per litre, following a Tk90 hike on 24 March.
BERC said a hearing on the price was held at the commission on 23 May. Following a detailed review, the commission adjusted the price of Jet A-1 for the mid-month period of May.
The adjustment considered the average published Platt’s rate (international market price) for Jet A-1 from 5 to 21 May, the US dollar exchange rate for BPC’s LC settlement, and the existing price of diesel, officials said.
