BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday said Jamaat-e-Islami is trying to halt Bangladesh’s progress and turn the country into Afghanistan.
Fakhrul said “Jamaat-e-Islami does not want Bangladesh to move forward, and they want to turn the country into Afghanistan.”
He made the remarks while campaigning in the electoral area of Thakurgaon.
Mirza Fakhrul alleged that Jamaat does not allow women to work and prefers that girls remain confined to their homes.
Commenting on a recent post by the Jamaat Amir on the social media platform X, he said “If the Amir made such misogynistic remarks, it is wrong.”
He also claimed that Jamaat has been threatening the Hindu community.
Despite this, he urged everyone to move forward with courage and without fear.
“The country now has an opportunity to build a justice-based state. BNP seeks a fair and inclusive election environment with all parties and is working towards that goal,” he said.
