Jamaat-e-Islami on Thursday urged the Election Commission to suspend voting at several polling centres in three constituencies, alleging widespread irregularities.
A party delegation met Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AHM Nasir Uddin and placed the demand during a meeting at the Election Commission office.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Advocate Moazzem Hossain Helal said the party had sought suspension of voting at certain centres in Cumilla-8, Shariatpur-2 and Patuakhali-1 over allegations of misconduct.
He said the party submitted more than 100 video clips and relevant links to the Election Commission as evidence of the alleged irregularities.
Helal claimed that party polling agents were expelled from a centre in a Cumilla constituency and that the matter had been reported to the authorities concerned. He also alleged that BNP activists forcibly stamped ballot papers in Narsingdi-4.
In addition, Jamaat raised allegations of irregularities at several polling centres in Noakhali and Jhalakathi, he said.
Earlier in the afternoon, a nearly 10-member delegation of the 11-party alliance arrived at the Election Commission around 3:15pm to meet the CEC and submit their complaints.
