The Bangladesh Jail Pavilion, showcasing products made by inmates, secured first place in the general pavilion category at the recently concluded 30th International Trade Fair 2026.
This year, the jail pavilion was decorated with 402 types of products produced by inmates from 38 prisons, which were displayed and sold at the fair. A total of Tk70,28,703 worth of products were sold at this year’s fair, the highest ever compared to any previous time.
The International Trade Fair authorities awarded the pavilion first place for its exhibition of beautiful and appealing handicrafts and artworks, along with the well-organised infrastructure management.
During the closing ceremony of the trade fair on Saturday, Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin handed over the crest and certificate to Colonel Md Mesbahul Alam Selim, additional inspector general of prisons, on behalf of the Bangladesh Jail Pavilion.
In addition, Assistant Inspector General of Prisons (Production) AKAM Masum, Kashimpur Central Jail Part-2 Senior Jail Superintendent Al Mamun, and other officials and employees of the Prisons Directorate were also present at the closing ceremony.
