A new episode of ‘Ityadi’ will air on Bangladesh Television (BTV) on Friday, June 5, after the 8 pm Bangla news bulletin, featuring the history, heritage and cultural traditions of Narsingdi.
The episode was filmed in front of the Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Library and Memorial Museum in Ramnagar, Raipura, one of the district’s notable landmarks.
Written, directed and hosted by Hanif Sanket, the programme will include a folk-fusion performance by Emon Chowdhury and his band Bengal Symphony. The featured song was jointly written by Jewel Ahmed and Kabir Bakul, while Chowdhury also composed and arranged the music.
The programme will begin with a musical presentation highlighting the history, heritage and culture of Narsingdi. The song was written by Moniruzzaman Palash, composed by Hanif Sanket and arranged by Mehedi.
As in previous editions, local traditions and historical narratives will remain at the centre of the programme. The episode will feature segments on the archaeological site of Wari-Bateshwar, Narsingdi’s traditional handloom industry and Baburhat, often referred to as the “Manchester of the East”.
Viewers will also be introduced to several of the district’s geographical indication (GI) recognised products, including Amritsagar bananas, Burmese grape, locally known as lotkon, and Colombo lemons.
In addition to its focus on local heritage, the episode will include human-interest stories, educational and international reports, comedy sketches, dramatic segments and audience participation features.
For decades, ‘Ityadi’ has travelled across Bangladesh highlighting the country’s cultural diversity, and the upcoming Narsingdi episode continues that tradition by placing the district’s history, people and achievements in the national spotlight.
