Md Omar Faruk Khan, Managing Director of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC, has been awarded the ‘Lifetime Excellence in Islamic Banking Leadership Award’ at the Global NRB Awards-2025 in recognition of his outstanding contribution and dynamic leadership in the Islamic banking sector.
NRB World conferred the award on him during a ceremony held at a city hotel in the capital on 30 December, marking the observance of International Expatriates Day.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Ahsan H Mansur handed over the award to Faruk Khan at the event, which brought together expatriate entrepreneurs, industrialists, businessmen, doctors, engineers, scientists, teachers and IT professionals from around 25 countries.
Founder of NRB World Enamul Haque Enam was also present at the ceremony, alongside a large gathering of non-resident Bangladeshis and distinguished guests.
The award recognised Md Omar Faruk Khan’s long-standing role and leadership in promoting and strengthening Islamic banking practices in Bangladesh, according to the organisers.
