Islami Andolon leader killed in Kushtia road accident

Abdur Razzak Badsha, a leader of Islami Andolon Bangladesh, was killed after being crushed under the wheels of a truck on the Kushtia-Rajbari highway in Kumarkhali of Kushtia. The incident occurred around 10pm on Friday.

Kumarkhali Police Station’s Officer-in-charge (OC) Jamal Uddin confirmed the matter.

Mufti Khairul Bashar, another activist of Islami Andolon, was injured in the incident.

According to police and locals, Badsha and Bashar were travelling on a motorcycle to visit Anwar Khan, the Islami Andolon Bangladesh candidate for the Kushtia-4 constituency, in Khoksa. A truck was also heading towards Khoksa.

Badsha fell onto the road while attempting to overtake the vehicle. The truck then ran over him and fled the scene. He died on the spot. Bashar was injured but is said to be out of danger.

Anwar Khan said, “I spoke with him (Badsha) shortly before the accident. He wanted to meet and discuss something. Later, I heard he had died in a road accident.”

OC Jamal Uddin said, “Upon receiving the news, the body was recovered and handed over to the highway police. The police will take legal action.”
