Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) has officially announced its mayoral candidates for the upcoming Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) elections.
The central president of Islami Jubo Andolan, Atiqur Rahman Mujahid, has been nominated to contest the DNCC mayoral seat, while Sheikh Fazlul Karim Maruf, the party’s central publicity and dawah secretary, has been picked for the DSCC.
The names were formally declared by the party’s Ameer, Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, during an exchange of views meeting held at the IAB central office in Purana Paltan on Monday afternoon.
Speaking at the meeting, the ameer clarified that Islami Andolan Bangladesh will participate in the upcoming local government elections nationwide independently and will not form any alliances with other political groups.
Prominent leaders in attendance included Secretary General Maulana Yunus Ahmad, spokesperson Gazi Ataur Rahman, Presidium Member Ashraf Ali Akon, Joint Secretary Generals Fazle Bari Masud and Ashraful Alam, Assistant Secretary General Ahmad Abdul Qayyum, and Assistant Publicity Secretary Shariatullah.
