The Chattogram International Documentary Film Festival (CIDFF) is set to take place from 8 to 10 January, bringing together a diverse selection of national and international documentary films.
Organised by Bisubo Art Organization in association with Alliance Française Chattogram, the three-day festival aims to promote documentary filmmaking and create a platform for dialogue on contemporary social, political and cultural issues.
The festival will feature curated international screenings alongside an official national selection of Bangladeshi documentaries.
The Curated Films section, by Kauser Haider and Tanim Ibne Yousuf, includes several internationally acclaimed works.
Among them are Bangla Surf Girl by Elizabeth D Costa, Ernest Cole: Lost and Found by Raoul Peck, Mount Mir.age and Mousumi by Debashish Das, Writing Hawa by Najiba Noori, and Bhabar Vita (The Home that Holds Bhaba) by Molla Sagar.
The Official Selection (National Category), curated by Fazle Hasan Shishir, showcases documentaries by Bangladeshi filmmakers.
Selected films include Uboget: The Unsung Tale and Song, Moribar Holo Taar Shahd, Stab in the Dark (I), A Machine (Jontor), The Taste of Honey, Extra – Girls from the Silver Screen, Pankauri, Dear R2m, and What Stand on the Verge of a Rebellion.
According to the organisers, CIDFF seeks to establish a sustainable documentary culture in Chattogram while encouraging critical engagement with real-life narratives. The festival is supported by several international partners, including the French Embassy.
The organisers expressed hope that the festival would attract documentary enthusiasts, filmmakers and researchers, and foster meaningful exchange through cinematic storytelling.
