An internet service worker died after being electrocuted while fixing a line on New Eskaton Road in Dhaka’s Ramna area on Tuesday afternoon.
The victim, Anwar Hossain, 48, worked as a lineman for an internet company operating in the area.
The incident occurred around 3pm. He was taken unconscious to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at about 4pm, where doctors at the emergency department declared him dead.
Anwar Hossain was the son of the late Kashem Ali of Dakshin Gorapara village under Kotwali Police Station in Barishal. He had been living in a rented house in Mohammadpur.
His son, Shuvo, said Anwar became unconscious after being electrocuted while working on an internet line. He was rushed to DMCH, where doctors informed the family that he had already died.
Inspector Md Faruk of the DMCH police camp confirmed the death, quoting attending doctors. He said the body has been kept at the hospital morgue and the incident has been reported to the relevant police station.
