The planned white ball series between Bangladesh and India has fallen into fresh doubt.
India are scheduled to visit Bangladesh for three ODIs and three T20Is in September. However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board is now unsure whether the series will go ahead.
The six match series is scheduled to begin on September 1. The ODIs are set for September 1, 3 and 6. The three T20Is are scheduled for September 9, 12 and 13.
The series was first planned for August 2025. It was later moved to September 2026 amid tension between the two countries.
BCB president Tamim Iqbal has been working to make sure the series takes place. However, recent developments have raised fresh concerns.
A BCB official has now admitted that the board is doubtful about receiving a positive response from India.
Speaking to Cricbuzz, the BCB official said, “I am doubtful about the series now after all the recent development. I don’t think we will get any response from the other side (as far as the series is concerned) and truth be told, it was supposed to happen by August 28, how many days do we have left?”
The latest uncertainty comes at a time when relations between Bangladesh and India have faced more tension.
Recent political developments have added to the situation. Bangladesh’s foreign ministry reacted strongly after former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina addressed a virtual press conference from Delhi on August 5.
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed also spoke about relations with India on August 8.
These developments have now raised more questions about India’s planned cricket tour.
The BCB had expected a response from the Board of Control for Cricket in India by August 28. But the latest comments from the BCB official suggest confidence is falling.
The tour would include India’s first bilateral T20I series in Bangladesh.
For now, the six matches remain on the schedule. However, with the BCB still waiting for confirmation from India, the future of the series remains uncertain.
