India’s white ball tour of Bangladesh could take place in September if it receives approval from the Indian government.
According to reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) are working on plans for the series.
The proposed tour could lead to India’s three match T20I series against Afghanistan being postponed.
The Afghanistan series was scheduled to begin on September 13 in Delhi. Delaying those matches would open a two week window for India to visit Bangladesh.
The tour still depends on approval from the Indian government.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has reportedly kept its venues free from September 1 and prepared several schedule options.
Dhaka and Chattogram are the leading choices to host the matches.
The initial plan is to stage three T20Is at one venue and three ODIs at another. Holding all the matches at a single venue has also been discussed. Another option is to play only one format if required.
Officials from both boards reportedly discussed the proposed tour during the recent ICC meeting in London.
The BCCI had informed its selectors about the Afghanistan series. However, an official announcement was delayed because of the possible Bangladesh tour.
Preparations for the Afghanistan series have now reportedly been pushed back as both boards continue discussions.
Relations between the two cricket boards have faced challenges over the past year.
India did not tour Bangladesh last year because of diplomatic tensions between the two countries.
Earlier this year, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal said the BCCI wanted to move forward and build healthy relationships with other cricket boards.
