India’s High Commissioner‑designate to Bangladesh, Dinesh Trivedi, visited Netaji Bhavan in Kolkata ahead of formally taking charge.
“I’ve been very fortunate that I grew up just 400 yards from here. We have grown up with the emotions of Netaji, and the values we have inculcated are thanks to him,” Trivedi told ANI.
“There cannot be anything better for me than to come to Netaji Bhavan,” he said stressing that the ties with Bangladesh go beyond borders.
“We are connected with the people of Bangladesh and their dreams. We have common dreams of democracy. So not only 140 crore people of India, but I add another 20 crore people of Bangladesh.”
He also said, “Whatever is good for 160 crore people, I’m sure Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, the people of this country and of Bangladesh will bless me to ensure we succeed together.”
The veteran politician is set to assume office as India’s envoy in Dhaka, succeeding career diplomat Pranay Verma.
