The International Crimes Tribunal‑1 has set 23 December to deliver its order on the framing of charges in a case against 17 accused, including army officers, over crimes against humanity involving enforced disappearances at the Taskforce for Interrogation (TFI) cell.
The tribunal has also set 24 December for delivering its order on the framing of charges in the case concerning the killing of 28 people in Dhaka’s Rampura.
A three‑member bench of ICT‑1, led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Majumder, fixed the dates after holding hearings in the two cases on Sunday.
Of the 17 accused in the TFI cell disappearance case, 10 have been arrested, all of them army officers. They are Colonel Anwar Latif Khan, Colonel Md Jahangir Alam, Colonel Tofayel Mostafa Sarwar, Colonel KM Azad, Colonel Md Kamrul Hasan, Colonel Md Mahbub Alam, Colonel Mohammad Abdullah Al Momen, Lieutenant Colonel Md Sarwar Bin Kashem, Lieutenant Colonel Md Moshior Rahman Jewel, and Lieutenant Colonel Saiful Islam Sumon.
The seven fugitives are deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Major General (retd.) Tariq Ahmed Siddiqi, former Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed, former Additional IGP M Khurshid Hossain, former Additional IGP Md Harun‑ur‑Rashid, and Lieutenant Colonel Md Khairul Islam.
In the Rampura murder case, Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Redwanul Islam and Major Md Rafat bin Alam, who were serving in Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at the time of the incident, have been arrested. The other two accused, former Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Md Rashedul Islam and former officer‑in‑charge Md Moshior Rahman, remain fugitives.
