The Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) held a training programme in Dhaka on Sunday to strengthen the knowledge and practical skills of its members, corporate officials and other professionals on changes introduced by the Finance Act 2026.
The programme, titled “Mastery on Finance Act, 2026: Changes, Impact & Practice”, was held at Management FBS Club Limited in Dhaka and covered changes to value-added tax, customs and income tax, along with their implications and practical application, ICSB said in a press release.
ICSB Secretary and Chief Executive Officer Md Shabbirul Alam Chowdhury delivered the welcome address and moderated the session.
ICSB Treasurer and training coordinator Md Mizanur Rahman FCS inaugurated the programme, introduced the resource persons and outlined its objectives.
The sessions were conducted by Rezaul Karim, Second Secretary (Customs: Policy) at the National Board of Revenue; Md Nazmul Hossain, Second Secretary (Tax) at the NBR; Md Abdul Aziz FCS, Manager of Finance and Accounts at Incepta Pharmaceuticals Limited; Hadisul Alam FCS, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Consultant at Hadisul Alam & Associates; and Dipongkor Dutta FCS, Chief Financial Officer at Divine Mercy Hospital.
The resource persons discussed changes to VAT and customs under the Finance Act 2026 and their impact, changes to income tax and their implications, and the practical application of tax deducted at source and VAT deducted at source.
The programme also covered individual income tax practices.
Former NBR Commissioner of Income Tax Md Nuruzzaman Khan attended as guest speaker.
An interactive discussion followed the technical sessions, allowing participants to raise questions about practical challenges, which were addressed by the resource persons.
ICSB members, senior officials from leading corporate organisations and professionals from different sectors attended the programme.
ICSB Vice-President Md Sharif Hasan FCS presented certificates to the participants at the end of the training.
