A delegation from the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB), led by its President Md Kausar Alam FCMA, met Commerce Secretary Md Ataur Rahman Khan ndc at his office on 9 July 2026 to discuss strengthening the cost and management accounting profession and supporting Bangladesh’s sustainable economic development.
The delegation briefed the secretary on ICMAB’s ongoing activities, strategic priorities and initiatives aimed at developing the profession in Bangladesh, while exchanging views on professional excellence, good governance, financial accountability and industrial growth, ICMAB said in a press release.
The ICMAB delegation included Vice-President Abdul Matin Patwary FCMA, Vice-President S M Zahir Uddin Haider FCMA, Secretary Monjur Md Shaiful Azam FCMA, Treasurer Professor Dr Md Musfiqur Rahman FCMA and Executive Director Md Mahbub-Ul-Alam FCMA.
During the meeting, the delegation highlighted ICMAB’s efforts to enhance the role of cost and management accountants in Bangladesh’s public and private sectors.
The Commerce Secretary appreciated the contribution of cost and management accountants to national development through sound financial management, transparency and accountability. He also praised ICMAB’s continued efforts to develop skilled accounting professionals and acknowledged the institute’s role in supporting government and private sector initiatives.
Ataur Rahman Khan assured the delegation of continued cooperation from the Ministry of Commerce in advancing initiatives that contribute to economic progress and institutional development.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing commitment to strengthening collaboration between the Ministry of Commerce and ICMAB to promote professional excellence and support Bangladesh’s sustainable economic development.
