Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe says his team are still adapting after the sale of striker Alexander Isak to Liverpool.
Newcastle drew 0-0 at Bournemouth on Sunday. It was their third straight goalless draw away from home in the Premier League. They remain winless on the road this season.
While Howe welcomed another clean sheet, he admitted his side are struggling in attack. Newcastle have scored only three goals in five league games and sit 13th with six points.
“It’s three 0-0s away from home, which is unusual for us,” Howe said. “Naturally we will be a different team in attack this year without Alex. I hope we evolve into a better team, but it may take time.”
The club is looking to record signing Nick Woltemade to lead the line. Howe believes the German striker will grow into the role.
“I thought Nick played really well today,” Howe said. “He was effective with his footwork and link play. We just need to understand his style more and get runners off him. He is very good in that area.”
Newcastle will turn their focus to the League Cup on Wednesday when they host Bradford City in the second round.
