A housewife was stabbed to death in Saydabad, Dhaka after which her relatives attempted to cover up the incident as a “road accident”.
Jatrabari Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Awlad Hossain confirmed the matter. The deceased has been identified as Taslima Akter, 34. The incident took place on Monday evening on the rooftop of a seven-storey building where the victim was a tenant.
According to the police, Taslima had been involved in an extramarital affair for around 18 months with Raju, 41, who is a tenant in the same building.
An altercation broke out between the two on the rooftop. At one point, Raju stabbed Taslima multiple times. She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, where doctors pronounced her dead.
Under interrogation by the doctors, the relatives initially claimed that Taslima had been the victim of a road accident. As the circumstances appeared suspicious, the police were notified, following which the relatives disclosed the true facts of the murder at the police station.
SI Awlad said the police are conducting a drive to arrest Raju. The body has been kept at a morgue for an autopsy, and an investigation is ongoing.
