The Supreme Court has announced a general holiday for all courts across the country on 11 and 12 February in view of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election and a referendum.
The holiday will apply to the Supreme Court, as well as all subordinate courts and tribunals nationwide.
The announcement was made through a notification signed by Registrar General Muhammad Habibur Siddiqi on Tuesday.
According to a notification from the administration branch of the High Court Division, the election-time government has already declared a two-day public holiday via an executive order for all government, semi-government, autonomous, and private offices, as well as educational institutions.
This measure is intended to facilitate the exercise of voting rights and the overall polling process.
In alignment with the executive order, the Appellate and High Court Divisions of the Supreme Court will remain closed during these two days.
A further notification from the judicial branch of the High Court Division confirmed that the general holiday also extends to all subordinate courts and tribunals to ensure that judicial officers and staff can participate in the electoral process.
