After 6,314 days, Tarique Rahman has returned to Bangladeshi soil, arriving home with his wife Zubaida Rahman and daughter Zaima Rahman.
The aircraft carrying Tarique Rahman departed from London’s Heathrow Airport and, after a stopover in Sylhet, landed at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Ahead of his arrival, members of law enforcement agencies were placed on alert at the airport, the 300 Feet area and locations adjacent to Evercare Hospital to ensure the security of Tarique Rahman and his family.
According to the Border Guard Bangladesh headquarters, additional BGB personnel have been deployed to manage the large crowds surrounding his return and to deal with any untoward situation.
Checkposts have also been set up on different roads across Dhaka, with vehicles being stopped and searched as part of the heightened security measures.
