Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain on Friday said the government is conducting regular monitoring to ensure hospital cleanliness and patient services while curbing the harassment and influence of brokers.
The minister made the remarks while speaking to journalists after visiting DNCC Covid Hospital in the capital’s Mohakhali area.
“As part of routine work, I am visiting different hospitals every week. We are monitoring regularly to ensure hospital cleanliness and patient care, and to prevent the influence of brokers,” the health minister said.
Regarding the current disease outlook, Sakhawat noted that pneumonia is currently more prevalent than measles.
He emphasised that the government is making its maximum effort to prevent infections and deaths caused by measles.
“The government is working to provide measles vaccines quickly to prevent infection and fatalities. However, it takes time to get the benefits of the vaccines,” the minister added.
He further informed that the capacity of specialised hospitals will be increased if the situation worsens.
Sakhawat assured that any necessary equipment would be supplied to hospitals as required, noting that arrangements have already been made to provide equipment to facilities that were facing ventilation shortages.
