State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock, Sultana Salahuddin Tuku, has announced that the administration and volunteer teams will work in a coordinated manner to control traffic congestion on the Jamuna Bridge-Dhaka Tangail Highway during the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha.
The state minister made these remarks while speaking to journalists on Friday afternoon, prior to attending the Rabindra-Nazrul Jayanti festival at the Tangail Shishu Academy auditorium.
Tuku stated that every effort will be made to ensure a traffic-free highway for home-bound citizens by involving both law enforcement agencies and volunteers to reduce public suffering.
Furthermore, the state minister noted that the administration would provide necessary directives regarding the setting up of sacrificial animal markets along the route.
It was highlighted that as the Jamuna Bridge-Dhaka Tangail Highway serves as the primary route for passengers travelling to northern Bangladesh, it faces excessive vehicle pressure every year. Advance preparations are being undertaken to ensure a comfortable journey for Eid travellers this year.
Specifically, the 13-kilometre stretch of the highway from Elenga to the Jamuna Bridge will be kept under special surveillance.
The event was also attended by the former member secretary of the District BNP, Mahmudul Haque Sanu, President of Sadar Upazila BNP Azgar Ali, and Senior Joint Secretary of Sadar Upazila BNP Azim Uddin Biplob, alongside other local leaders.
