Bangladesh fast bowler Hasan Mahmud believes the team’s practice match will play a crucial role in preparing for the upcoming Test series against Australia, particularly as the visitors adjust to unfamiliar conditions.
Bangladesh are preparing for their first Test series in Australia in 23 years. None of the players in the current squad have previous Test experience in Australian conditions, making the warm-up sessions and practice match even more important.
Speaking during the team’s preparations, Hasan stressed the value of the match simulation before the opening Test.
“I think our practice game before the match is very important for our preparation. It will help us adapt to the conditions and the pitch. We are having very good practice sessions.”
“Today we worked on our fielding, batting and bowling. We still have several tasks and sessions ahead of us. I hope everyone will complete their preparations and we can make a good start.”
Bangladesh face a demanding assignment against the top-ranked side in the World Test Championship. Australia have turned home conditions into a fortress, winning 11 of their last 15 Tests on home soil over the past two and a half years.
Bangladesh have also suffered a setback before the series with pace bowler Nahid Rana unavailable.
That absence places greater responsibility on Taskin Ahmed to lead the pace attack, with Hasan expected to play a key supporting role alongside Syed Khaled Ahmed. Uncapped seamer Mushfik Hasan also remains in line for his Test debut.
