Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are preparing to return to the UK with their children after six years in California, in a move that marks a major shift for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
According to People, the family will begin the transition in the coming weeks and plans to stay in Britain for an extended period. They will retain their Montecito, California, home, while the location of their new UK residence remains undisclosed.
The couple have no immediate plans to abandon Archewell Productions or Meghan’s lifestyle brand, As Ever. They will also remain non-working royals after stepping back from official duties in 2020.
The move comes as Archewell’s Hollywood ambitions have faced challenges. Launched in 2020, the production company has struggled to build a substantial scripted and unscripted slate. Its Netflix partnership has also faced reported tensions, although the deal remains in place.
Variety previously reported that Netflix extended its relationship with the couple in 2025 through a multi-year first-look agreement.
The latest move will not end their entertainment ventures. Archewell is developing a film adaptation of the Afghan war memoir No Way Out: The Searing True Story of Men Under Siege for Netflix, according to Variety.
The reported return therefore brings Harry and Meghan back to Britain while leaving their California base and Hollywood ambitions intact.
