Police recovered the hanging body of a housewife in Barguna on Monday night. The body was found at a rented house in the Char Colony Stadium area of the municipal town.
The deceased was identified as Rabeya Akter, 28, daughter of Jalil Hawladar of Amrajhuri village in Keorabunia Union of Barguna Sadar upazila.
According to local residents and family members, Rabeya Akter had been living with her family in a rented house owned by Abdul Latif in the town. On Monday night, her younger sister Pakhi Akter entered the room and found her hanging. Hearing her screams, neighbours rushed to the spot and informed police.
Barguna Sadar Police Station recovered the body after reaching the scene.
Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Abdul Alim said the woman had been suffering from illness for a long time and the incident was initially suspected to be a case of suicide.
“However, the body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. An unnatural death case has been filed and further legal action will be taken following investigation,” he said.
