Bangladesh begin their preparations for the upcoming AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers with a training camp starting in Dhaka on 29 September, as the national team gear up for a decisive double-header against Hong Kong.
The first match will be played at the Dhaka National Stadium on 9 October, with the return match scheduled for 14 October in Hong Kong. Officials confirmed that players and coaching staff will stay at the Dhaka Intercontinental Hotel during the camp, while letters have already been sent to clubs requesting the release of national team players.
Foreign-based stars Hamza Choudhury and Shamit Shome are expected to join the squad on 6 October, providing a major boost to Javier Cabrera’s side. Hamza, widely regarded as a footballing icon for Bangladesh, is set to add experience and quality in midfield alongside Shome and Fahamedul as the team look to strengthen before the qualifiers.
The qualifiers come at a crucial stage of Bangladesh’s campaign. After a goalless draw with India and a narrow 2-1 defeat to Singapore, Cabrera’s men know that victory against Hong Kong is vital if they are to keep alive their hopes of progressing on the continental stage.
