Gulshan Society on Saturday organised a “Seasonal Fruit Festival” at Justice Shahabuddin Ahmed Park and distributed fruits among low‑income people, including street children and rickshaw pullers, to promote compassion and social responsibility.
Seasonal fruits, collected with the spontaneous cooperation of Gulshan residents, were handed over to underprivileged members of society during the event.
Gulshan Society President Barrister Omar Sadat, members of the society, eminent personalities and representatives of electronic and print media attended the event.
On the occasion, Barrister Omar Sadat said, “The provision that Allah has given us includes the rights of the needy. Therefore, standing by the backwaters of society is not a favour, it is our moral and religious duty.”
He added, “The humanitarian example that the residents of Gulshan have set by sharing the fruits of their homes with those people is the true identity of a civilised and compassionate city.”
Gulshan Society said such humanitarian and public welfare initiatives will continue in the future for the welfare of underprivileged people.
