Grameenphone has introduced a Hajj roaming service for Bangladeshi pilgrims, allowing customers to stay connected in Saudi Arabia using their existing mobile connections, the company said.
The service enables users to activate roaming packs through the MyGP app using their mobile balance in Taka, removing the need for credit or debit cards, dollar endorsement or separate SIM cards while abroad.
Both prepaid and postpaid customers can access the service, which includes a range of roaming packages with validity periods of 15 and 45 days.
The packages offer minutes for incoming and outgoing calls along with full-speed data access.
Under the unlimited internet Hajj package, users can continue browsing at 1 Mbps speed after exhausting their allocated data for the remainder of the validity period.
Customers with 5G-enabled handsets and active Grameenphone 5G services will also be able to use 5G connectivity in Saudi Arabia.
Grameenphone Chief Product Officer Solaiman Alam said the initiative is aimed at ensuring uninterrupted communication during the pilgrimage.
“The company remains deeply committed to ensuring uninterrupted and reliable connectivity for its customers, especially during the most meaningful and emotional moments of their lives,” he said.
“The Hajj journey holds profound spiritual significance for millions of people, and staying connected with family and loved ones during this time brings comfort and peace of mind. Through this initiative, Grameenphone aims to make communication simple, and accessible, allowing pilgrims to remain worry free about staying connected,” he added.
