Grameen Communications joins Japan’s Wick to launch SPARK

Grameen Communications and Japan’s Wick Co., Ltd. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop SPARK, a digital social business platform aimed at empowering Bangladeshis at home and abroad through technology, skills development, employment opportunities and financial inclusion.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the second day of Social Business Day 2026.

Yoshikane Nakamichi, Representative Director of Wick Co., Ltd., and Feroz Mahmud, Managing Director of Grameen Communications, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations.

The joint initiative seeks to build a collaborative digital platform that connects people, creates opportunities and strengthens communities through the principles of social business.

SPARK aims to connect Bangladeshis worldwide through a unified digital ecosystem. The platform will support skills-based earning and freelance opportunities, promote employment and career advancement through digital profiles and intelligent job matching, and encourage financial inclusion, micro-investment and asset building to strengthen long-term economic resilience.

The initiative will combine Wick Co.’s technological expertise with Grameen Communications’ extensive grassroots network and decades of experience in using technology for social impact. The partners aim to create an inclusive digital ecosystem where people can learn, earn, grow and contribute to their communities.

Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chairman of Yunus Centre, attended the signing ceremony.

The partnership marks a significant step towards using technology and social business to expand opportunities, strengthen livelihoods and build a more inclusive digital future for Bangladeshis around the world.
