Grameenphone (GP) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Prime Bank FinTech Limited to extend mobile financial services across Bangladesh by linking the telecom operator’s digital ecosystem with a licensed MFS platform, the company said in a press release.
The agreement was signed at GPHouse in Dhaka by Yasir Azman, Chief Executive Officer of Grameenphone, and Sheikh Aminur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of Prime Bank FinTech Limited. The partnership aims to bridge gaps in access and accelerate the adoption of mobile financial services by combining Grameenphone’s nationwide connectivity with Prime Bank FinTech’s financial platform. Under the arrangement, customers will be able to access Grameenphone mobile recharge services through Prime Bank FinTech’s MFS platform, with selected telecom and financial services available via USSD to reach users without smartphones or internet connectivity.
Yasir Azman said the collaboration extends Grameenphone’s digital ecosystem to integrate trusted financial services with everyday connectivity. “As digital adoption accelerates across Bangladesh, our focus is on making essential services more accessible, seamless, and inclusive for millions of users,” he said, adding that the partnership marks a significant step towards building an integrated platform that advances financial inclusion.
Sheikh Aminur Rahman said the partnership reflects a shared vision to drive financial inclusion and digital empowerment. “By combining our capabilities, we aim to expand our reach and deliver convenient, secure, and inclusive financial solutions to a broader customer base,” he said.
Senior officials from both organisations attended the signing. From Grameenphone, attendees included Chief Product Officer Solaiman Alam, Chief Business Officer Asif Naimur Rashid, Head of Digital Business Zahiduz zaman, Head of Prime Accounts Arvid Chowdhury, Head of Digital Retail Inzamul Haque Chowdhury, and Head of Prime Accounts 3 Md Hasanul Islam. Prime Bank FinTech was represented by Chief Commercial Officer Mohammad Mahbub Sobhan, Head of Brand and Communication Nabila Khalid, Additional General Manager Mohammad Mahmud Hassan, and Head of Technology Operation and Services Mahidul Hasan.
