BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy has commented that if the BNP chooses the path of protest regarding the July Charter issue, the interim government will not be able to survive.
He said, “The final decision on the July Charter contains many alterations and flaws. But BNP did not create these flaws; the government and the National Consensus Commission did. Now, rising above everything, the government must make the correct decision. Otherwise, the responsibility for this will fall on the current government.”
He said these things to journalists after the newly formed full committee of the Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) paid tribute at the grave of the late president Ziaur Rahman on Sunday afternoon.
Gayeshwar Chandra Roy further said, “The people have understood how the government and the Commission have deceived the nation. Yet, the chief adviser and the government remain silent on this matter. The government must make the right decision now. Otherwise, if BNP takes to the field, there is doubt whether the government will last.”
Regarding comments by other political parties surrounding BNP, he said, “Attempts are being made to make the party controversial, seeing the possibility of BNP coming to state power in the coming days. We do not consider anyone a rival. Those who are afraid of the election are the ones conspiring to postpone it.”
