The Cabinet Division has instructed all government offices to exercise the utmost caution and responsibility when employing Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for official purposes.
The directive emphasizes the necessity of strictly adhering to existing laws, regulations, and government guidelines to ensure the security of sensitive and confidential information.
A formal letter regarding this matter was issued on 28 July by E-Governance-2 branch of Cabinet Division and dispatched to all senior secretaries and secretaries.
According to the letter, the use of AI tools is steadily increasing across various official activities within government departments.
While these technologies are recognized for enhancing speed, efficiency, and productivity, Cabinet Division warned that careless usage creates risks of unauthorized disclosure or the transfer of sensitive government data to third parties.
In light of these concerns, all concerned officials and staff have been requested to act with maximum caution and responsibility to safeguard the security and privacy of government information.
The instruction further stipulates that AI usage must strictly follow the prevailing laws and government-issued directives to ensure that technological benefits are gained without compromising data integrity.
The letter, signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Sheikh Jobayer Ahmed, stated that the government’s objective is to ensure the positive application of artificial intelligence while maintaining robust information security.
To achieve this goal, all relevant ministries, divisions, and offices have been directed to take the necessary precautions in their respective jurisdictions.
