The government has transferred eight Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) from different upazilas across the country, according to an official notification.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued the notification on Tuesday evening, stating that the transfers involve officers holding the rank of senior assistant secretary.
As per the order, Barguna Patharghata UNO Ishrat Jahan has been transferred to Charfesson upazila in Bhola, while Chuadanga Jibannagar UNO Md Al-Amin has been posted to Nagarkanda in Faridpur.
Pirojpur Bhandaria UNO Rehena Akter has been transferred to Dhunat upazila in Bogura, and Habiganj Bahubal UNO Liton Chandra Dey has been posted to Jibannagar in Chuadanga.
Bogura Dhunat UNO Pritilata Barman has been transferred to Bahubal in Habiganj, while Faridpur Nagarkanda UNO Mehraj Sharbin has been posted to Kamlakanda upazila in Netrokona.
Netrokona Kamlakanda UNO Masudur Rahman has been transferred to Bhandaria in Pirojpur, and Bhola Charfesson UNO Md Lokman Hossain has been posted to Patharghata in Barguna.
The notification said the government has also delegated executive magistracy powers to the eight Bangladesh Civil Service (Administration) cadre officers under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, enabling them to perform duties as executive magistrates within their jurisdictions.
It said the transferred officers must join their new postings by 22 January, failing which they will be deemed released from their current positions from the afternoon of that day.
The transfer order, issued in the public interest with approval from the Election Commission, has come into effect immediately, the notification added.
