The government will sell dressed broiler meat at Tk245 per kg, pasteurised milk at Tk80 per litre, eggs at Tk8 per piece, and beef at Tk650 per kg to consumers during Ramadan.
These essential commodities will be made available through mobile shops for 26 days, starting from the day before Ramadan and continuing until the 25th of the month.
The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock and the Department of Livestock Services will carry out the initiative, according to a press release issued by the ministry.
A meeting on the matter was held on Sunday at the ministry’s conference room, chaired by Adviser Farida Akhter.
It was decided that divisional directors and district livestock officers under the Department of Livestock Services will coordinate with district administrations to expand the programme outside Dhaka, setting up sales points in divisional and district towns based on local market conditions.
Initially, the programme will operate at 25 locations in the city. The locations are: Secretariat (Abdul Gani Road), Farmgate (Khamarbari), Mirpur (Shat Toot Road), Azimpur Maternity Hospital, Nayabazar (Old Dhaka), Uttara House Building, Rampura Bazaar, Hazaribagh, Arambagh (Motijheel), Kalshi (Mirpur), Maniknagar (Jatrabari), Shahjadpur (Badda), Korail Slum (Banani), Kamrangirchar, Khilgaon (Rail Crossing South), Nakhalpara (Lukas Mor), Segunbagicha (Kitchen Market), Mohammadpur (Babar Road), Mohammadpur (Bosila), Kakrail, Banasree, Mirpur‑10, Kalyanpur, Tejgaon, and Bongobazar (Old Dhaka).
The number of sales centres will gradually be increased in coordination with local entrepreneurs and stakeholders.
